A picture is worth a couple of cents and some running woes

So, I only have one picture for you all today.

Sorry for the tip wear and such. This is from the Sweet collection by Orly (from thumb to pinky): Lemonade, Snowcone, Pixy Stix, Lemonade and Snowcone. I then Bundle Monster-ed the top using one of the new Sinful Colors nail art polishes in 'Bad Chick'--what a horrible name for a white nail art polish!!!

I got the lemonade and pixy stix for another blogger in preparation or a swap (you know who you are) but as long as I had them in my possession I HAD to try them out, and then I ended up going back  and getting them and some others from this collection for myself! lol!
I had all the girls at a local gas station checking out these nails and asking me questions about them so I thought I'd post!

In slightly different news, pedicures with fancy stickers don't mix! As the name of this blog suggests, I am a runner. Not to scare you off, I am not one of those skinny runners you see with the long blonde ponytails! Oh no,  I have been running for years and am still classified as 'overweight' according to the BMI and I still run AT LEAST 3 miles a day! I have very buff manly-looking legs! =)
But I digress, when you run about 7 miles nail stickers fall off, when you run 13 miles (half-marathon) pretty much all nail polish comes off but when you run a marathon (26.2 miles) your toenails turn black and fall off in couple of days of the big run, just some fun facts about 'Running with Polish'

Being Cultured, but not too much

Of course by now some of you may know this but I will post it on my blog, I am a soil microbiologist and by cultured I always mean bacteria/yeast/what-have-you. Just before I chopped my nails off I had spilled a culture of bacteria all over my fingertips and was a little scared (and stupid for not wearing gloves) so I went into clean overhaul! This is a picture of what my manicure was right before I went 'clean crazy'

I know it's really nothing but it was kind of fun to do. I used Sinful Colors mint apple for the base and Orly Prince Charming for the tips.

So, not only was I 'cultured' with bacteria but my nails were also very cultured with their pretty little 'french-ish' mani.

Then I decided it was time to submit something to the color accent design challenge for PHD.

The lines are less than straight but it is really difficult to do free-hand nail art on really short stubs for fingernails! I was supposed to be a greyscale plaid with little gold hearts for the color accent, randomly placed.

well, that's all for today...Ciao!

Borrowed Toes

You heard it right, I actually borrowed these toes, from Lacquerware for Tips and Toes, don't worry, I asked her if I could recreate her version and she graciously said that I could so I am so happy!

For the base color I used China Glaze Shower Together and then Zoya Charla over top of that, so so shiny!
For the stickers I got the same ones that Lacquerware for Tips and Toes got...Under the Sea at Sally's Beauty Supply.

I hope you aren't all afraid of toes and feet, cause they aren't really something we can get away with not seeing in public...what with sandals and all!

And another pic of my sweet little Maggie Mae, relaxing in the field!

Thanks for reading and checking out my feet and doggy. And thank you Chris from Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes for the inspiration!

I didn't forget anything, I was a Victim!

A victim of cord stashing! Silly husband decided that he would take all of my cords lying around and put them in his laptop case just to see how long it would take me to realize that they were missing, grrrr. lol

So, to celebraate I am doing my very first request! extraH from Polish or Perish http://polishorperish.blogspot.com/ requested that I try layering Sally Hansen Virtual Violet over top of black so that is exactly what I did...
This look is ok but I am just not a fan of dark colors, at least not dark blues.
I freaked out after spilling some bacterial growth media onto my fingertips yesterday and chopped all my free edge off! (sigh)
While I do think this combo looks stellar, I don't think that it fits my personality. Do you ever feel that way, like the color looks good but you can't bear the thought of wearing it in public?

Forget it, I forgot.

So, I forgot where I placed my cord to download my pics from my camera... >=[ ... ... ...  Stupid brain! Oh well, I will just have to start posting some of my back logged pics and no new ones so please excuse these pics, they were some of my first and I really didn't know what I was doing, lol.

This is OPI Miami Beet, love this color, this was my first real and true lemming that I actually caved and bought!

FYI, I think this looks even better on toes and longer nails and this color really does look like beet stains!

So, not much to say other than I think this color is the bomb-diggity and hopefully I will find my cord by the end of the week! =)

I'm back--Miss me?

OK, so I didn't actually go anywhere, I was still here and reading and commenting when I could but I was very very busy last week.
Today I have for you one of my all time lovelies, Ruby Pumps by China Glaze!

This was 3 coats which is weird for me cause I usually draw the line at 2 but I was in the mood for 3!
I seriously adore this color!!!
This is my feeling sexy color and don't know what else to put on my nails color, do you have one of those colors?

Summer Twilight

So, this was going to be my entry for Polish Hoarder Disorder's http://polishhoarderdisorder.blogspot.com/ design challenge for this week...if I could figure out how to do e-mail correctly! lol.

This was inspired by a twilight sky here in Utah this last week, it was just breathtaking and my attempt to recreate it is nothing like the real deal but it was fun to do!
the dot on the ring finger is Venus which is visible in the summer twilight sky in my hemisphere. I used OPI Russian Navy fading to Pure Ice Celestial and then fading into OPI Fiercly Fiona, with Venus being a combo of Alpine Snow and China Glaze Solar Power. Thanks for looking!

Fiercely 4th and OPI.

So, for the 4th of July I copied a fellow blogger http://www.crystalpolish.com/, I told her I would be copying but here we are nevertheless...

I did change it up a bit by doing the french tip at diagonals. The original can be seen at http://www.crystalpolish.com/2010/07/funky-french-friday-4th-of-july-edition.html

And here is one with flash.
I used an old Salley Hansen Salon (square bottle) called Wine Not? for the base and did the french tip in Pure Ice Celestial. For the dots I obviously used a dotting tool and OPI Alpine Snow, this was a really fun 4th mani.

For my NOTD I have on Fiercely Fiona from this spring's OPI Forever After collection and I don't know why but I love this color.

I wanted to make it appear brighter so I layered two coats of it over top of OPI Alpine Snow and I think I achieved the look I wanted.
And just cause it's fun, here it is the day I got it freshly swatched on poor sad nails. =) I actually think this color looks better on short nails and I highly recommend this and the Who the Shrek are You to wear if you have nubbins!

See how much more yellow it appears in direct sun?

I hope you all have a lovely day, especially those of you on the East Coast, out here in the desert it's fun for me to see that I get to share the heat with everyone!

Random Drugstore Polishes

So, first up I have a frost! :0 Hear me out, I got this cause it perfectly matched a swimsuit I bought years ago and I wore it on my toes, Since then I have 'ungrown' out of that swimsuit so I have no idea when I will wear it next. This is a green-silver frostyness of evil on sad looking fingernails such as mine right now!

It's kinda pretty...sorta and it's called First Time by Pure Ice, and yes, it's brushstrokey cause it's a frost, deal.
=)

and one in the shade so you can see its very metallicy.

...and one in the bottle so you can see it shine and sparkle!

OK, so now that I am done with that I will show you Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Virtual Violet, I bought this color for my nieces and I love it so much that I ended up buying an extra one for myself!

It has a blue shimmer that is just spectacular and I seriously get so many compliments when I wear this polish, it puts some of my more expensive designer polishes to shame!

Again, sorry for the nubs and the sad shape of my nails in general. I think everyone should have this color, for $2.50 you can't really go wrong with how many compliments I get on this!

On a slightly separate note, I just spent $12.50 on a bottle of OPI Designer Series polish, but I'll show you that one another day, I don't feel bad about it at all, it's so gorgeous!  =)
